I CAME FROM A PLACE OF NO LOVE - SARKODIE

sarkcess

In spite of the successes and fame chalked by Sarkodie, his recent songs or features in the past few years have been about his haters or enemies.

The ‘Mewu’ hitmaker claims his recent lyrics is as result of coming “from a place where there was no love.” and that he needs to detox himself to get out of that mindset.

“The thing is I came from a place where there was no love so you can’t blame me for still having that in me. I need to detox myself more and get out of that but I’m still in that… Though I’m Sarkodie now I went through that life for ages.” He told Nayoka Oware on The Journey show.

He adds: “But then it sells too because when i do songs like Chingam, even Adonai. I’m talking about the hustle and everything. people relate because that is the reality for you.”

I will reign forever - Sarkodie

sarkcess

Award-winning Ghanaian rapper, Michael Owusu Addo, popularly known as Sarkodie has stated that he will continue to be a heavyweight in Ghana’s music industry till he retires.

Speaking to the BBC after an event at the O2 Arena in London, the BET award winner threw a challenge to people who doubt his longevity in the industry.

“Today I want to challenge anybody who is still doubting that it’s going to be Sarkodie in the next 2 or 3 or 4, 5 years, ten, eleven until I choose not to.”

Sarkodie’s comment comes at a time when there seems to be a grudge between him and some media personalities.

Recently, the ‘you go kill me’ hitmaker released a diss song in which he sarcastically mentioned music producer Mark Okraku Mantey and thanked him for continuously criticizing him.

He also hit hard at the host of Peace FM’s Entertainment Review, Kwasi Aboagye saying he didn’t need him to promote his music.

Sarkodie told the BBC that his rise to fame was not by chance but by hard work, “I believe most rappers; because hip-hop is based on ego; turn to fight the fact that people want to push you down and try and make you feel that you can’t be here tomorrow, like you’re hitting for today, this is your time by the next 2 years you [are] not going to make it.

“And it begins to make you nervous, you believe in yourself but you kind of like get what they are saying in a way like you are not going to have this for long but then I did not even come out to be just one of the artistes. I was the artist when I came out as Sarkodie.”
